Saint Davids Cathedral
Profile
St Davids Cathedral is the pilgrim heart of Wales. Built in 1181, the breathtakingly beautiful cathedral in its stunning valley setting is a beacon for worship, choral music (considered one of Britain’s top five cathedral choirs) and artists from all disciplines including music and crafts. Its annual Music Festival, held in May, is a magnet for lovers of choral and organ music. The Festival programme includes traditional, classical, modern and new specially commissioned works for voice, organ and orchestras. The Summer Concert series provides a platform for young and established singers, organists and instrumentalists.
The Refectory provides exhibition space to local artists, craftspeople and makers throughout the year. Our ongoing programme of pilgrimage walks offers an extra spiritual dimension to visitors and artists seeking inspiration and refreshment. The post-Reformation collections in the Library – the only on-site cathedral library in Wales – offer inspiring resources to academic, poetic and artistic researchers as well as general visitors.
